What do these views mean?

These views change the wording and examples BirdStory shows. They are not a diagnosis.

  • Explorer: A broad starting view for recognising patterns without choosing one neurotype.
  • ADHD: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Includes what some people still call ADD.
  • Autism: Autism spectrum. This view focuses on autistic patterns, sensory and social processing, predictability, and overwhelm.
  • AuDHD: A common shorthand for people who are both autistic and ADHD, or who strongly relate to both sets of patterns.
  • HSP: Highly Sensitive Person. Not a diagnosis, but a useful trait lens for sensitivity, depth of processing, and emotional or environmental intensity.

Pick the view that makes the experiences feel most recognisable.

Do you set a series of alarms not just to wake you up, but to give yourself a buffer against the anxiety of oversleeping?

One alarm doesn't feel like enough to get you from asleep to actually up. So you build a whole sequence, each one meant to catch the version of you that dismissed the last.

  • setting alarms for 6:30, 6:35, 6:40 and every five minutes after that
  • giving each alarm a more urgent label as the morning gets later
  • putting one device across the room and keeping another beside the bed
  • waking to an alarm you don't remember turning off
