Explorer shows the broad version of the experience, without narrowing it to one neurotype.

Choose your view

Changing this updates how BirdStory explains experiences in your guide.

What do these views mean?

These views change the wording and examples BirdStory shows. They are not a diagnosis.

  • Explorer: A broad starting view for recognising patterns without choosing one neurotype.
  • ADHD: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Includes what some people still call ADD.
  • Autism: Autism spectrum. This view focuses on autistic patterns, sensory and social processing, predictability, and overwhelm.
  • AuDHD: A common shorthand for people who are both autistic and ADHD, or who strongly relate to both sets of patterns.
  • HSP: Highly Sensitive Person. Not a diagnosis, but a useful trait lens for sensitivity, depth of processing, and emotional or environmental intensity.

Pick the view that makes the experiences feel most recognisable.

Do you find yourself the go-to person in your social circle for information on specific, sometimes unusual, topics?

Help someone understand this

On the subjects you know, detail is ready and waiting. People learn to bring you their difficult questions because you can supply context, connections and the obscure fact that turns out to matter.

  • answering a casual question with the useful history nobody else knew
  • becoming the colleague everyone asks about one complicated system
  • remembering the exact article, date or detail that settles a group debate

Looks vs reality

The same Experience can look very different from the outside than it feels on the inside.

How it gets read

"You're kind of a know-it-all, aren't you?"

What’s actually happening

This isn't about superiority; it's an invitation. Sharing this knowledge is my way of connecting and showing you something I find genuinely beautiful.

How it gets read

"Can I just get the 30-second version?"

What’s actually happening

My brain lives in the details. The 'short version' feels like skipping the best parts of the song—the context is where the magic is.

How it gets read

"You're really intense about this."

What’s actually happening

Yes! This is my brain's happy place. This level of focus is calming, energizing, and feels like coming home.

How it gets read

"How do you even remember all this stuff?"

What’s actually happening

My brain is just sticky for this topic. These facts aren't memorized; they're an interconnected part of how I see the world.
